Case 1 - Young Start-up Business
Case 2 - Returning Mother
Case 3 - Personal Guidance
With some financial input, Mr A, a young man just made redundant by a graphic design business, decided to set up his own business. By the time we got involved he had been trading some six months.
With a first year turnover of a mere £10,000 he was struggling to make ends meet. With a mixture of coaching, encouragement and linking into the mentors' networks, Mr A grew the business to a point where, after four years, he was employing others and recording a turnover of £300,000.
The mentoring opened his eyes to the possibilities within the marketplace, forged new links and challenged his preconceptions. In this way, Mr A is now the owner of a highly successful design agency.
Ms B is a mother of four children, and as three were at school, her thought turned to returning to employment in some way or another. She had always hankered after running her own business, and had always been told that she was a great matchmaker.
She decided to set up her own dating agency, and we got involved from the start, helping her identify suppliers, developing a business plan and getting the business off the ground.
After a few months of trading, the reality of the business venture caused Ms B to start to doubt her decision, so with help from her mentor, she refocused her business objectives to generate higher short-term cashflow, whilst maintaining her ultimate dream.
Her business is still growing, but she feels that couldn't have done it without the support of her mentor and growing network of suppliers and advisors.
After 15 years employment in the motor trade, Mr C has been unemployed for 2 years and felt abandoned. Personal issues also contributed to a downward spiral where he felt useless, de-motivated and lost.
His mentor was able to point Mr C to appropriate support for his personal issues and through discussion and support he was able to see that his existing skills could be transferred into other roles. Confidence and motivation were also explored and he was able to move forward and find employment in another industry.
Mr C has now just been promoted in his new company and still keeps in regular contact with his mentor.
